Comparing PacketAssure to IP Convergence Routers

The diagram below shows how PacketAssure works dynamically to manage bandwidth by priority type. Once the priority video call is released, the data traffic resumes.

Note: All data is read right to left on each of the four scenarios.
  • PacketAssure has no limit on the number of high-priority channels. Priority bandwidth is never "nailed up" to an application.

  • PacketAssure's service class - by port - greatly simplifies operation, requiring only minimal training.

  • Service class - by port - totally isolates other circuits from burst, congestion, or denial of service (DoS) attack activity. By contrast, severe congestion on an IP router impacts all network users.

  • PacketAssure limits non-conforming and low-priority traffic, greatly isolating TCP retransmissions, shortening congestion periods, and dramatically reducing variable delay on priority channels.

  • PacketAssure requires no expensive application processors or extensive memory upgrades in order to delivery premium service quality.

  • Serial over IP channels run up to 8Mbps with PacketAssure. Popular router products have a limitation of 2Mbps.
