Employees, retirees attend ceremony to unveil
commemorative collage
Wallingford, CT (USA) - DNE Systems, Inc. celebrated
its 50th Anniversary on July 20th 2001with a celebratory luncheon
attended by nearly 200 employees, retirees, and corporate executives
on board a chartered Connecticut River cruise. DNE Systems, Inc.
is comprised of two business divisions: DNE Technologies, a manufacturer
of data communication products and aerospace control units; and
DNE Contract Manufacturing and Services, which provides complete
turnkey electro-mechanical assemblies to other manufacturing partners.
DNE first began manufacturing data and voice communications equipment
in 1951 under the name Stelma, Inc. of Stamford, CT.
The highlight of the anniversary luncheon was the unveiling of a
commemorative collage custom-designed to represent the history of
DNE and its relationship with DNE's long-standing customers.
The collage, housed in the lobby of DNE, features articles, photographs,
products and other memorabilia relating to DNE's history. Most
of the pieces were donated by current and former employees. One
of a Kind Art Studio of Silver Spring, MD and artist Lawrence Romorini
recreated the donations in miniature and organized the collage to
represent DNE's global business, its history as a military
communications provider, and its current activities in the telecommunications,
avionics, and contract manufacturing sectors.
DNE President and CEO William Gill commented, "DNE takes great
pride in providing value to our customers. It is because of that
focus that we are celebrating our 50th anniversary. It is because
of that commitment, we believe, DNE will be here for 50 more."
He added, "Longevity in the telecommunication industry is a
rarity, and we are proud of our long-standing heritage and our contribution
to the communications industry."
In 1951, Stelma, Inc. specialized in the design, development and
manufacture of data and voice communication equipment, and became
the leader in communication technical control systems. Stelma introduced
its first FDM multiplexer in 1966. In 1969, Stelma was purchased
by the Dataproducts Corporation, the largest independent computer
printer company in the world and became Dataproducts New England.
In 1978, the company introduced its first Time Division Multiplexer.
In 1992, the company was purchased by the Alpine Group (NYSE: AGI),
a $2 Billion global telecommunications corporation. One year later,
Dataproducts New England officially became DNE Technologies, Inc.,
and added a Contract Manufacturing division. In 1996, Alpine combined
DNE and another subsidiary, Superior Cable, into a separate telecommunications
company called Superior Telecommunications (NYSE: SUT). In 1997,
DNE was awarded ISO 9001 certification.
DNE past and current products include multiplexers such as the MC-3,
the AN/FCC-100, the AXXESS/1 and the SatPlex/2 series. Other products
include the TAC ATM Concentrator line, the CV-2048 protocol converter,
ice detectors for the F-16 and F-18
E/F aircraft, and a variety of control devices for military communication
and avionics applications.
